After his critically acclaimed EP on SGN:LTD last year the rise of Mitekiss continues as he graduates to a full-blown solo release on Shogun. Awash with rolling piano loops and exquisite vocals on what’s fast becoming the trademark sound of Mitekiss, the celestial vibe is high throughout making for a beautifully rounded EP with shelf life in spades.

“I wasn’t even expecting to release a record on Shogun, but after speaking to the guys and sending them about 20 ideas they told me my next EP would be a Shogun release, I was quite happy to say the least! After some discussion we managed to narrow it down to four tunes that felt right for this EP. I wanted to make a more grown up record, something with a bit more restraint which I always find difficult and I feel these do that for me. I’ve used Mr Porter on three of the tracks and I’ve also got Jerome Thomas on ‘Who’s There’, bringing a lovely soulful touch to the final song of the EP. I hope you dig the new tunes, there’s more to come.” Mitekiss

Shogun Audio Present: MY NU LENG – Portal EP

Having become one of the UK’s most exciting acts over the past few years releasing their bass-heavy brand of garage and grime across labels like Black Butter and MTA, My Nu Leng go back to their roots as they deliver their very first drum & bass EP. And as you’d expect from a duo who’ve been drawn in to remix the likes of Naughty Boy, Rudimental and Clean Bandit, it’s big and it’s very, very clever.

“We are both so excited to be releasing an EP on Shogun! We’ve been huge fans for many years and have bought and collected most of their back catalogue on vinyl. We actually both come from a big drum and bass background and became friends through mixing and looking through each other’s D&B vinyl collections.

We first worked with Friction by remixing his track ‘Long Gone Memory’ and more recently have been working with Ed under his new alias FineArt – we showed him some drum and bass we’d been making and he mentioned the idea of an EP on Shogun. It’s been over a year since that conversation started and we are really happy to now get it out there and an honour for us to bring it on Shogun whilst working with SpectraSoul and Friction on music too. Iyamah on vocals for senses really blew us away and we hope people enjoy the music as much as we did making it! My Nu Leng 2017

Shogun Audio present: TECHNIMATIC – Remixed

The first Technimatic release since their breathtaking ‘Better Perspective’ sophomore album of last year, ‘Technimatic Remixed’ is a collection of some their greatest work to date brought kicking into 2017 by some of Pete & Andy’s favourite producers of now. Break, Alix Perez, Fracture, Was A Be and LSB all feature giving their own personal takes on some already seminal Technimatic moments.

“We have never had a remix project of our work so this is a really fun one for us. You kind of get scared but excited at the same time as you wait for each track to come back! But all the guys on this project are producers we admire and respect greatly so we knew they would deliver the goods. ‘Bristol’ was just made for Break to do, we’d actually earmarked that one a couple of years ago for him. LSB is on fire with his work at the moment, Alix we’ve loved since before we joined Shogun, Fracture was our only choice on ‘Trigger Warning’ as he’s the don for that sound and we’ve been really impressed by new Shogun family members Was A Be.

Also we felt we’d like to contribute something to the project so we picked one of our favourite tunes with Lucy Kitchen and gave it a little sprucing up. The ‘Night Vision VIP’ has been doing damage in our sets for months now so we felt it rounded the EP off nicely. We hope you guys enjoy it as much as we have been!” Technimatic

Shogun Audio have just announced their nomination at this year’s AIM Awards. With previous category winners including Black Butter, Numbers and Hyperdub Records, their selection recognises Shogun’s 13 year involvement in breaking new sounds, new artists and pushing drum & bass and electronic music forever forward in the UK and beyond. Combined with recent sellout stage takeovers at the world renowned Let It Roll, Boomtown and forthcoming Outlook festivals, the AIM Awards 2017 is a very welcome addition to the Shogun calendar.

“It’s an honour to be nominated for such a prestigious award. The label is 13 years in and was started purely for the love and passion of the music so it’s amazing to see where we have come to now. Along the way we’ve been lucky enough to work with some amazing artists and see our hobby become our careers, and this nomination is a wonderful validation of the work we and our team have been putting in. Huge thanks to AIM and all the members! Can’t wait to join the great and good of the indy music world for the awards ceremony on the 5th Sept.” Keir Tyrer MD Shogun Audio
