Free Download Stems Creator by Native Instruments
In case you have missed it, there is a new way for both Producers to make tracks, and for DJs to be able to play them.
One main use of STEMS is to enable a DJ to be able to truly customise his performance by using different ‘streams’ of a particular track, for example if you want to use just the drums as part of your mix then you can select the drums only stream. Alternatively maybe you want to select just the vocals to use in your mix between 2 tracks, then a STEM file enable you do do it without the sometimes inadequate DJ method of using the low, mid and high mixer options to fade out the parts you want to hear less of.
Using STEMS can therefore bring much greater clarity and less muffled sound to your mixes in any live performance.
Native Instruments has released a FREE STEMS CREATOR which we have the download links for later in this post, but first here is a tutorial video how to use it to create your first STEM file :

We have also found a useful video tutorial video to help you convert your tracks to the new STEMS format here :
More about the STEMS format
STEMS are made of 4 (well 5) tracks built into an industry standard MP4 file container. A drums stem, a bassline stem, a harmony stem, and a lead stem for example. The Stem file also includes the original stereo master of the track for standard playback therefore making 5 in total.
Stem files will carry a stem.mp4 extension. For example: filename.stem.mp4
By using the MP4 container, what this also does is add the option in the future to add either single or multiple VIDEO streams into the same file for VJ integration.
