The Teddy Killerz come with the second to be taken from their forthcoming debut LP ‘Nightmare Street’. Giving us distorted sonic glimpse into the electronic world of the Ukrainian and Russia production trio, ‘Monkey Kingdom’ runs wild setting the pace perfectly for the full album due for release in Spring 2017 on the Ram Records/BMG imprint.

About Teddy Killerz: Having a plethora of releases already on the likes of OWSLA, Bad Taste and Ram’s sister-label Program, TK have reached a diverse audience, delivering across a huge spectrum of music. They were further pushed into the spotlight by their remix of Skrillex and Ragga Twin’s Ragga bomb, as well as working on Modestep’s London Road and their monumental rework of Make Those Move by I Am Legion (comprising of Noisia and Foreign Beggars), which reached the number one drum & bass spot on Beatport for six consecutive weeks.

The debut album ‘Nightmare Street’ looks set to cement their mark this year as one the major players in drum & bass.

DC Breaks return this new year with Everybody, a track which will set a countdown timer for the upcoming festival season and their debut LP due to drop this Spring. This album on the Ram imprint has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement, with the drum & bass duo becoming a staple in the Ram Record’s discography as well as many other revered dance music labels. Having remixed for the likes of Alex Clare, Professor Green, Jonas Blue and even Lana Del Ray their name has become synonymous with cross over drum & bass that appeals to a huge selection of audiences.

Everybody represents the stadium lead hooks that have made DC Breaks so notorious on the festival circuit. Conjuring visions of its climatic crescendo across a late-night stage, Everybody leads with authentically recorded instrumentals and emotive vocal melody. With driving bass crackling underneath the mix and rolling breaks, the track is still weighty in its delivery, proving DC Breaks are a master of their craft. Stabbing synths add a euphoric touch, providing yet another diversified section to their sound.

Including a plethora of club releases, Everybody shows DC Breaks will again prove their impeccable production standard over the coming months. 2017 is looking to be huge for the pair and if this single is anything to go by, they’re looking to hit another milestone in their career.

After a year-long hiatus, Mind Vortex return with brand new sonic cut ‘Shall We Begin’, a track that’s been played out across the club circuit repeatedly throughout the last six months and marks the start of their four track digital EP. Well known for creating dancefloor anthems which have opened sets for some of the scene’s biggest players, including Ram Records label head Andy C, Mind Vortex have once again delivered another climatic cut for the imprint.

Having dominated both the Beatport drum & bass and Radio1xtra’s charts with their subsequent releases, they’ve received support from the likes of tastemakers Zane Lowe, Mistajam, Grovverider, Bailey, Crissy Criss and DJ Hype. They’ve also become just as notorious behind the decks, making weekly DJ appearances across Europe, Australia and the US, pushing their sound into every corner of the globe. The track will also be aired as an exclusive on Andy C’s first Beats1 show debuting on 13th January.

‘Shall We Begin’ rolls out in a typical fashion, moving forward on a cinematic intro with robotic vocal samples giving you a foreboding glimpse into the direction Mind Vortex are taking you. Suddenly you’re pulled through hard-hitting beats and a rampant bassline, intermittently grinding into every drop, with crunching snare adding to the track’s weightiness. Mind Vortex doesn’t disappoint, with a comeback sure to resonate across both new and old audiences. 2017 is looking to be another ground-breaking year for the producers, with the subsequent three parts of this EP forthcoming over the next few months.

Rene LaVice – Sound Barrier / Squeegee

Canadian born producer Rene LaVice brings you into the New Year with two fresh cuts, tracks which set a standard for the coming twelve months and prove the stalwart isn’t pulling any breaks. Having played shows worldwide, with a string of high profile appearances including London’s seminal Ram New Year’s event, this forthcoming single has been heavily anticipated. The success of his first two studio LPs on imprint Ram Records have also strengthened his position within the drum & bass title weights, demonstrating that he’s able to deliver ground breaking pieces of sonic art year after year. And with ‘Sound Barrier’ and ‘Squeegee’ setting the markers for 2017, it’s looking to be another phenomenal year.

‘Sound Barrier’ begins with each pad adding to its lofty, almost extra-terrestrial atmospherics. Slowly the tension builds, before you’re brought forward on a succession of elevating synth patterns and overpowering snare. With each layer, Rene builds an impenetrable fortress, which quickly explodes with smashing drums and aggressive LFO. There’s no time for respite; beats fly at you from all directions and its driving bassline keeps the tempo. Pumping with energy, Rene takes on a new production style, which still holds onto the more tell-tale standards which made him so infamous.

On the flipside ‘Squeegee’ presents itself with quaking bass notes and a foreboding intro. Carefully winding up of airy patterns and distortion, you’re taken into a mystical, sonic realm. Dropping with sub-terranean intensity, the hook grabs you through every peak. Clicking percussion underpins the melody which drifts between each segments, pulling you in even deeper. Once again, synth adds a lighter feel to the track. It’s the perfect accompaniment to ‘Sound Barrier’, slightly more understated but still providing the kick that Rene LaVice fans will be expecting.

The New Year certainly has seen a change for Rene LaVice. He’s added not just to his discography, but also the vast soundscape he was already able to tap into.
