New Release – LAXX – Step Three – Never Say Die Records

Having just given away his cleverly titled four-track ‘Step Free’ EP, LAXX now returns with a further collection of his distinctive bass. Now up to the third edition in this popular series, ‘Step Three’ is out now via Never Say Die

‘The Invisible Invaders’ seems an appropriate way to kick things off, complete with whining sirens, elongated synth sequences and a swirling, chopped vocal on the drop. Following suit from Step One and Two comes the title track; packed with texture and this time increases the tempo to add further feverish intensity. ‘Semi Auto’ strips things back to start with; simple, short bursts of accentuated rhythm leads into a rippling, agitated flurry of sounds. Finally Ram Records’ Hamilton gives ‘Step Three’ a staggering D&B rework, emphasising its suspense on the build up before giving the drops even more urgency, with stabs of melody thrown in alongside the explosive drum patterns.

‘Step Three’ is a sophisticated and thrilling addition to this ongoing collection, and will undoubtedly continue to grow LAXX’s popularity as a major bass player.

New Release – CRYSTALLIZE EP – 501

501 – Crystallize EP

Just over a year after releasing his ‘Beat The System’ EP, iconic dubstep producer 501 is armed with a new four-track collection for Never Say Die, to be released on 8th December. With his music, it is often a case of quality over quantity, and ‘Crystallize’ stands as a testament to this.

The title track opens with a rolling and snare-heavy introduction but soon increases in power, firing stuttering shots beneath snatches of vocals. Next up is ‘Won’t Change’, a blistering collaboration with Protohype featuring Ras on vocals that fuses bleeps, glitches, soft melodic riffs and furiously hammering drops together in slick harmony.

‘Kill Your Boss’ is funk-filled from start to finish, incorporating catchy piano hooks and swift tempo switches alongside gargling jerks of bass. Barely Alive close the EP with their remix of this track, and sling some hip hop influences into the mix before taking things down a notch in their trademark hybrid trap style.

501’s sounds are sounding as fresh and imaginative as ever throughout ‘Crystallize’ – this is a truly striking release.

Finish DJ and Producer, Jussi Leväsalmi enters the industry with a strong musical background which has seen him play and write music for various bands over the years, leaving a significant mark in 501’s sound.

With remixes for Interscope and Skrillex’s OWSLA imprint under his belt, March 2012 saw a number 2 for 4 weeks running in the Dubstep Beatport chart with ‘Headrush’ featuring Belle Humble on Never Say Die Records.

Number one rapper in the world, Snoop Dogg has previously praised 501 for his beats with further world wide support for his music from his fellow peers including Mary Anne Hoobs, N‐Type, Headhunter, Chase and Status, Nero, Youngsta, Flux Pavilion, Mistajam, SkisM and more.

As it says above this is due out on 8th December and if we catch the Juno link for it we will let you know here !!

Enjoy !

New Release – Karetus – Battle Royale – 3rd February 2014

Karetus – Battle Royale – 3rd February 2014

The Portuguese pair once again unleash their hard-hitting and distinctive brand of bass with this track via DUSTLA. Having established their relentless sound over the past couple of years and releasing on Never Say Die, No Tomorrow and Dim Mak Records in 2013, this debut single for DUSTLA will undoubtedly attract all the right attention.

‘Battle Royale’ is a fiercely stirring single that builds and intensifies as it drags you along with it. Its title alludes to the militant-style rhythmical progression into a hugely satisfying drop sequence, switching up the pace and dynamic with the duo’s trademark unsullied level of production. Thrilling use of synths and a spine-shaking bassline are accompanied by intense vocals (repeat use of the commanding “Are you ready for this?”) giving it a hugely climatic feel. Be prepared to get fired up; this is a straight up dance floor weapon.

We will of course have the purchase link very soon! But in the mean time check out Karetus other releases HERE
