NickBee – The Gears EP

nickbee-the_gears_epIt is said that in the deepest layers of the subterranea, biology has no place… the complex mechanisms of old evolved relentlessly in ever-spiraling complexity, drawing their energy from the eternal thermal vents of the Worldcore. Mechanical beings woven within a delicate web of survival, spun into life from the sprawling hierarchical mechanism of the planet itself. In the dimly lit depths of one such level, subtle core alignment shifts spark their reaction, vents rerouting the intense heat through systems long untouched, spreading its energy across ancient precipitation tanks. Slow tendrils of steam curl upwards in the darkness, growing in intensity… feeding life into the machines of this place, setting the gears to their purpose. Lights flicker into being, and with them the metal orchids flourish, casting their alluring glow throughout the level. Life stirs in the fresh heat of the moment, the whirring of a thousand intricate mechanisms returning to life as wing films push against the air… every gear’s movement with a single purpose – to feed.

EATBRAIN presents rapidly rising Ukrainian producer NICKBEE with his GEARS EP, also featuring the eerie and alluring vocals of JOANNA SYZE. With these 4 delicately balanced and keenly crafted slices of neurofunk, Nickbee displays a refined sense of structure and minimalism, whilst delivering a powerful vibe for the dance.

Half of the EP drips with dystopian spirit, bristling with razor sharp edges softened in NOWHERE TO RUN and WE FIGHT by Syze’s ethereal and alien voice. The Gears EP retains a sense of tight urgency and patient precision throughout, with GEAR’s tilted syncopation providing a light-footed and paranoid pace, while TOGETHER WITH FUTURE delivers a hulking stepper that packs a weighty punch.

Rido – Rhythm Of Life LP

To get more of the very latest news faster than anyone then subscribe to our feed : CLICK HERE

Blackout continue their global search for the next “everyman” DnB producer and, by jove, in Rido they’ve found an absolute gem. Friction has picked up on “Fade Away”, battering it on his BBC Radio 1 show, and many other DnB luminaries are jumping on the Rido train for good reason.

Having cut his teeth on a number of high-profile labels such as Subtitles, Viper, Hospital and Metalheadz to name a few, Rido’s stock is set to rise stratospherically with this well-constructed and honestly- conceived longplayer, “Rhythm Of Life”. The origin of the word Rido comes from clan conflict in the Philippines, and whether or not that was the inspiration behind the moniker, the sentiment is strong and true across this debut album offering. Packed full of tough beats and scintillating basslines punctuated with vocal excerpts is a delight for and assault on the senses in equal measure.

Reflective, personal, intelligent – these are all words we can easily associate with the Czech DJ as he effortlessly zips from one high-octane dance floor killer to another. Whether it’s the rave-inspired, euphoric sound of “Thursday Funk” or the straight up and down toughness of “Movin”, there’s a little something for everyone inside.

Noisia – Outer Edges

Noisia OE main cover 3000x3000 WEBFriday 5th August 2016 – Dutch electronic music trio, Noisia, have this week been forced to rush release their long awaited new album, ‘Outer Edges’, after it leaked and appeared online last Friday night. The band were made aware ten minutes before they unveiled their debut ‘Outer Edges’ audio visual show at the Czech Republic’s Let It Roll festival.

The earliest opportunity to make ‘Outer Edges’ available on all DSPs and streaming services was today, Friday 5th August. The 18-track album is their first in six years and was originally scheduled for release on 16th September. Earlier this week the band and their label, Vision, made ‘Outer Edges’ available on their own webstore (https://store.visionrecordings.nl/). Vinyl and CD versions of the album will still be released on 16th September.

With a peerless reputation and countless awards under their belts, Noisia have transcended their genre and grown into a phenomenon in their own right. Drum & bass is at the core of Noisia’s sound, but Nik, Martijn, and Thijs’s visceral brand of electronic music has always ventured further, and the trio have continuously pushed boundaries through their own music and via collaborations with artists like Amon Tobin. This attitude extends outside of the studio and into the curation of the Noisia Invites events and their DJ shows, where they share stages with the likes of Skrillex, Andy C, Gaslamp Killer and Chase & Status.

Expert sound design is inherent to all of Noisia’s work and they use complex and intricate production techniques to create music that draws an unconstrained, palpable energy from dancefloors and festival arenas alike. In this respect, ‘Outer Edges’ pulls no punches, there are no concessions to daytime radio d&b, no singer-songwriter top-lines, and any vocal elements are twisted out of shape (the superb ‘Tentacles’ is testament to this). ‘Outer Edges’ shows Noisia in uncompromising form; ‘Collider’, ‘Anomaly’, ‘Mantra’, and ‘Get Deaded’ are four heavy dancefloor cuts alone on an album that moves from their signature neurofunk to the more experimental edges of their sound via tracks like ‘Stonewalled’, ‘Miniatures’, ‘Exavolt’, and ‘Sinkhole’.

Noisia recently launched their ‘Outer Edges’ tour at Poland’s Let It Roll, and the trio’s new audio visual touring concept, featuring their biggest production to date, will be hitting the following European festivals from late July, Sziget, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, SW4, Outlook, and a newly announced headline show during ADE at Melkweg (21/10). Further ‘Outer Edges’ shows, plus Noisia DJ dates, will be announced soon.

NOISIA SAID: “It’s called Outer Edges because it’s us exploring the outer edges of what Noisia, the three of us together, is. It’s about the idea that all the songs are little islands that we take to their individual edge… They’re all like expeditions to far sides. That doesn’t mean that it’s everything; it’s just that every song, if it goes in a certain direction, we’ve taken it all the way there. There are no real concessions – we haven’t been super DJ-friendly or radio-friendly at all. We’ve done no collaborations and hardly any vocals on the album.”
