Real Vibes keeps the pedal to the metal with its third free-download release, the irresistibly powerful ‘Rollin’.
The label, founded by veterans of the scene Ly Da Buddah and Mystic Dan, only launched at the tail end of last year but is already on its third neck-snapping free download as it pursues an ambitious release schedule which aims to drop a new free tune each month until December this year.
‘Rollin’ is the latest effort, and just as before is a fat slab of junglist jump-up bossed by landslide basslines and with more ragga-stye vocals tearing through over the top.

The first release from new label Real Vibes has landed and it’s a high-energy free download with flavours of jungle and jump-up.
The label was founded by Ly Da Buddah and Mystic Dan, who have been in the scene for over 20 years, and the pair team up for free download ‘High Peak’, which brings the island vibes with junglist vocals on top of a straight-up thumper of a drum & bass track.
The label plans to make a new tune available for free every month, from December 2017 to December 2018 so ‘High Peak’ is just the beginning – stay tuned.

Manchester producer Earl Grey gives the amen break a good going-over on his debut vinyl album for revered drum & bass label Inperspective Recordings.
Headwinds is a beautiful 14-track journey, each break-heavy cut produced to perfection and conjuring any one of a number of real emotions.
Talking about the record, the producer said: “Headwinds is open to interpretation, and has the potential to be dual-meaning, depending on the perspective of the listener.
“On one hand it could be the common currents of energy that one has to often work against, in day to day life and otherwise. On the other hand, ‘headwinds’ is a term to define the thoughts and streams of consciousness that plague those that by nature overthink.
“When I create, the music comes first, before acquiring meaning, but to me this album sounds like a single day in its progression, from day through to night, and although life has changed since the music was written, the feelings and themes still resonate”

Oliver Yorke is back with his second release on none60, featuring quite possibly the darkest track on the label to date.
A-side ‘Wanderer’ is that track, a pulsating half-time monster which ducks and dives into dark waters but doesn’t forget to come up for air. On the other side, the London producer teams up with label boss Silent Dust for the first time, throwing up a weighty cut of 21st-century jungle in the shape of ‘Not Giving Up’.
‘Wanderer’ / ‘Not Giving Up’ is out on June 16, pre-order here – https://none60records.bandcamp.com/album/nsy021-wanderer-not-giving-up
London producer Cid Poitier is back with his second release on Translation Recordings, a treacle-thick affair fusing jungle, dub and dancehall vibes.
Held together by great swells of bassweight, the Deep Logic EP travels through the soundsystem culture the producer loves and knows so well.
Techy opener ‘Deep Logic’ is a claustrophobic drum & bass track which nods towards late 90s neurofunk. Elsewhere the sharp edges are rounded off, leading to the dub-infused ‘Kill Sound’ and jungle/dancehall cut ‘Unity’, before the tempo drops to 140bpm for the heavyweight dub skanker ‘Rebel’.
The EP closes with an urgent remix of ‘Hear Dis’ from Cid Poitier’s Afrique EP from the Untouchables.
