Finnish duo Out of Fuel’s new EP, Isolation, is a real iceberg of a record – the kind that sinks ships, not bulks out your salad.
All frosty percussion and crystalline sci-fi pads, the EP marks the duo’s return to American label Translation Recordings and it is a bass-heavy, atmospheric affair. Moving in the shadows of drum & bass, skipping hats and window-shaking kicks keep things urgent across the four original tracks on the record, which concludes with the stalking Hypersensitivity remix of 2016 track ‘Ghosts’.
Isolation is out now on Washington, DC-based label Translation Recordings. Head to https://translationrecordings.bandcamp.com/ to buy, or listen below.
Outer-space junglist Fanu is back with a new record, and the Finnish producer’s latest outing sees him rattling the dark side of the moon with a powerful set of break-led drum & bass.
The Silent Watcher – out now on the artist’s own Lightless Recordings imprint – features eight tracks of otherworldly bass which will shake the ceiling of your spaceship.
Fanu, who also drops hip-hop beats under the name FatGyver, put the album out to mark his 37th birthday and called it “an aging junglist’s take on d&b”. It’s his tenth album and his experience shows as watertight production veers from straight-up beats to mellower cuts like ‘Presence’.
