INVALID BIO

Dirty drum breaks and filthy synth bass lines smoothed over with spacial textures; these are some of the traits that define the DNB entity known as INVALID. Southern California native turned Colorado resident Jonathan Loeser, a/k/a/ INVALID, is a rising producer with plans to provide the global drum and bass community with original releases indefinitely. Over the past decade, INVALID has acquired the skills and equipment that modern caliber drum and bass demands, both as an avid drummer and as a live audio engineer. Jonathan is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). With the support of music lovers worldwide, INVALID has plans to offer digital downloads, CDs, and limited edition vinyl runs on all future releases.

The Video and Release

We are putting the video up here first because personally we really like it !!! With clips from various creative commons sources, put together by BC#9 himself it sets a great backdrop to a great track.

Two Drum+Bass producers come together to create the story and sound of Jungle Demon and Selecta, the galactic DJ. The video and the track tell the story of Selecta and Jungle Demon as they ride through the lost city. The video was created by Jason Bakes a/k/a BC#9, using clips created by multiple artists . The voice of Vincent Price is featured in a clip from the film “House On Haunted Hill”. The artwork for the release was created by Xtene Sixtene & INVALID . Video clips courtesy of Alberto Mielgo, Beeple and Ash Thorp. Jungle Demon was Produced and mixed by Jonathan Loeser a/k/a INVALID @invalidproductions.

Mastered By Nik Hrycyk @Amethyst Studios UK. 2019.

We think this track has both a modern, as well as a classic feel to it, with an energetic vibe that takes you on a journey. The video helps to project that alongside the music. But if you just want the soundcloud link then here you go –

Rido- Rido & The Gang EP [Eatbrain]

The four men sat atop the ruined husk of their city, basking in the absurdity of their own survival in the face of such utter destruction. Their laughter echoed sharply off of the barren concrete that fell around them as leaves in autumn, it’s tone reflecting the strength of their shared bond and amplified by the strength of their shared drink. They looked out over the city through the gap where a wall had once stood, before being torn asunder by a hulking reptilian beast that had passed through town some months ago. Their city seemed plagued by such things, with news of mysterious propaganda machines, corrupt criminal cabals, and strange biomechanical overlords coming to light in the months that had followed that initial disaster. As their gazes wandered through the crumbling towers of the city, the sky began to glow with an eerie red light.

Before them, a rain of meteors swept through the sky, streaking towards one of the last untouched monuments of their civilization. Noticing this, the men calmly exchanged glances, calmly regarding each other as they waited for someone to be the first to break. A cacophonous roar interjected shortly thereafter as the first of the stones made impact deep within the city and the resulting tremor shook the men from their contest at once. As each scrambled to remain balanced in his chair and to retain the balance of the wine in his hand, they erupted into laughter once more at the acrobatic antics of their comrades. Returning their attention to the recent impact, they stared calmly at the approaching cloud of debris with detached confidence. With almost choreographed precision each donned a pair of sunglasses before raising their glasses in a cheer. Were there an outside observer, they may have regarded the men as fools. However, there was none, and they were not. For those who had withstood such a litany of destruction, what threat was a meteor shower? RIDO & THE GANG would come out on top. They always did.

RIDO makes his EATBRAIN debut and brings THE GANG with him for a collaborative EP featuring JOE FORD, COUNTERSTRIKE, and EATBRAIN label boss JADE as he displays his wide ranging sonic ability over four tracks on the RIDO & THE GANG EP. RIDO first takes center stage with the mysterious STRANGER which features his unique blend of melodics and fast paced sweeping basslines. JOE FORD then joins forces with RIDO for BLUEPRINT, adding his inimitable & otherworldly sonic textures to the mix for a driving bassline assault. COUNTERSTRIKE bring their trademark irreverence and hard edged sound to DA F_K, combining with RIDO to create a profaned bassline worthy of the track’s name. The EP is then closed by THE MAZE, a collaboration with JADE narrated by a psychosis inducing vocal. Arriving with THE GANG at his back, RIDO steps up to his EATBRAIN debut with effortless power and presence.

I Love to Listen to Music

When I was younger, I really did not listen to a lot of music because I just did not care for what my parents listened to every day. I did listen to a bit when I was with my friends at their houses, but for the most part, I just didn’t care too much about it. When I got my own apartment though, that all changed. I started listening to the music that I liked, and I found out that there was a whole world of music out there. I did a search for mp3 download because I wanted to find not only the songs that I already liked, but I also wanted to find songs that I didn’t even know existed yet.

I was able to find a site that had a lot of really great songs on it. I would log onto this site at least once a week, and there would always be new songs on there for me to listen to. The really great part about this is that I was able to listen to them for free. If I liked what I heard, I could download it then. Continue reading

NEW RELEASE- LOCKJAW- HUMAN RESEARCH LP

LOCKJAW brings his sonic expertise to bear with the release of the HUMAN RESEARCH LP, a significant moment for both artist and label that represents the first album released by both LOCKJAW and his LOCKED CONCEPT imprint. After delivering a taste of the LP earlier in the summer with the “Human Research Sampler EP”, which saw glowing reviews in DJ Mag and Mixmag, LOCKJAW is set to unleash the 12 track project in full, presenting a diverse array of individually unique sonic experiences for the listener. Though diverse, the LP is unified by LOCKJAW’s technically exacting style even as it crosses over into new sonic frontiers.

It is these unexpected turns into new auditory realms that most define the LP throughout its body. Whilst LOCKJAW still exhibits the expected full force of his ability within Drum & Bass on tracks such as PASSING FT. CURRENT VALUE, in which glittering cosmic atmospheres collide with mangled metallic bass, he further flourishes this same ability in a variety of unexpected areas. OPTIONS sees these same techniques put to use in a stripped down house track, causing it to reverberate with funk-filled warehouse atmospherics. The wistful aura of A THOUSAND REASONS sets the listener adrift in an experience of cathartic melancholy, as the strums of its guitar seem to tug physically at one’s nerves. Within its final two tracks, EMPATH & THE SPACE BETWEEN US, the album’s themes converge in their most triumphant form. Present here are the cosmic atmospheres of PASSING, the emotional response of A THOUSAND REASONS, and the innovative attitudes of OPTIONS, synthesized into a pair of cohesive audio sequences.

From this synthesis rises a final theme, one that pushes ever forwards with singular intent. The reflection provided by these final tracks serves to magnify this theme, as LOCKJAW looks forwards to further exploration within the sonic medium. With the HUMAN RESEARCH LP, LOCKJAW has displayed both his artful production ability and his desire to step beyond traditional bounds, a combination set to bring him to further heights as he continues researching its myriad possibilities.

New release – Dissident – Apnoea/Anabasis [none60]

Dissident balances late-night darkness and morning light on his none60 debut Apnoea/Anabasis.

Silent Dust’s label has a long-standing reputation for atmospheric cuts of drum & bass and Dissident takes that torch and runs with it – although so deep is A-side ‘Apnoea’ that the flame gutters in the face of ominous sub-bass tones with taught atmospherics layered on top.

Dissident emerges from the dungeon on ‘Anabasis’, lifting the mood and dropping the tempo for some airy relief which nevertheless still shakes the window frames.
