Ableton and software instrument specialists Sonic Faction have released Tricky Traps, a new set of creative Max for Live devices for creative exploration. The collection of 16 quirky sequencers, instruments and MIDI effects blends playful experimentation with serious sounds – and brings a new level of customisation with the new Push.

Eight MIDI and audio contraptions offer fresh ways of working with MIDI and modulations: tools that are quick to grasp and designed to be chained together to create unexpected rhythmic and melodic patterns.

As well as having a knack for causing happy accidents, the Pack also offers eight tweakable instruments whose stripped-back parameter sets show you don’t need endless options to spark ideas – or sound great.

There are plenty of innovative new options for Push owners too. Sonic Faction have added custom controls that are totally new to the unit, like the multi-playhead and circular MIDI sequencers, and contraptions that trigger or step-sequence modulations from Push’s grid.

Tricky Traps is available now on the Ableton website for USD 59 / EUR
