Christian Hoffmann aka Toronto is Broken has come a long way in a really short time, since releasing the amazing Move It EP in 2012 to his highly anticipated 2015 debut album Section Nine on Jay Cunning’s ‘Sub Slayers’ label. In this short timeframe, Mr Toronto has been getting airplay on BBC 1Xtra and gaining support from the likes of Crissy Criss, Bailey and MistaJam as well as Charlie Tee and DJ Hype over at Kiss FM. The classic Spirit Song even featured on Radio 1’s essential mix.
It’s no surprise that DJ Mag described Section Nine as ‘A Blistering Debut Concept Album’ and Mixmag called it ‘A Truly Scurrilous Journey Through Dark, Twisted Textures’
before FAZE MAG gave Section Nine 10 out of 10 and the accolade of ‘Album Of The Month’
As well as dropping his own album, this year has already been a good one for Christian with releases on both Viper Recordings Sound of Drum & Bass 2015 album and the 15 Years of Technique Recordings Summer Selection 2015 album as well as hosting the Technique Recordings Podcast in August 2015.
As the summer of 2015 draws to and end and the brooms come out to clear the remnants of the many closing parties around the world, Toronto is Broken releases the final instalment of remixes from the Section Nine Album.
The original Field of Poppies features a hypnotic vocal from Nuala which is both beautiful and haunting at the same time. The original is a track very close to Christian’s heart as he wrote it for his 3 year old daughter Poppie and the lyrics really add to the powerful effect of this electronic symphony.
Next up to show their prowess on remix duties is Furney who steps up the tempo while keeping the hypnotic piano loop going before unleashing a powerful sub to stamp the official Furney mark of quality on it. Watch out for the DBHQ Premier coming on Monday 7th September.
Not content with writing and composting the original, Toronto is Broken remixes his own work and demonstrates his versatility with a truly graceful remix which is a perfectly warm and enchanting slice of Electronica.
Sub Slayers very own SKMA’s interpretation is as you would expect nothing less than amazing with his signature heavy breakbeat reminiscent of LTJ Bukem at his best.
