Classic sounds from the Dance Concept camp in the shape of two massive remixes from Serum. Serum takes over the sounds of the classic Feel and So Damn Tuff from Fresh Kutt. Bringing the sounds of the legendary 90s jump up label bang into the present, the remixes has already found support from DJ Friction and others.
Dance Concept are of course no strangers to iconic releases, as they’ve been dropping big tunes since way back in 1999, as well as keeping their promotions arm as strong as ever. So, as you can see, all parts are firing on the Feel Dam Tuff EP.
First up is the Serum remix of Feel, which begins with a classic-sounding rolling break and warping samples. The remix evokes the original, with its atmosphere and bite, but drops in more than enough to breath more life into the track. You’ll all remember the sample, but Serum adds a new bassline and plenty of swaggering attitude. The beats still roll, and the effects still have their range, but the track feels in no way dated or out of touch. Jungle is still alive, never went away, and always sounds good.
The flip, So Damn Tuff, drops in from a great height, with hip hop beats morphing into a flowing, funky break. Serum collabs with Benny V and adds flashing electronics and jazzy touches as the track builds itself up. The drop is intense, summoning up so many sweaty nights in dingy mid-90s clubs. The bass’ll blast you back to the future, with cymbals and hats finishing off things perfectly. Serum does a fantastic job on both of these remixes, capturing the mood and the feeling of the tracks, and allowing a whole new generation to experience them.
